We get that question a lot.
The answer is: It depends.
We recently filed a couple’s divorce documents just 12 days after their initial meeting. The couple was highly motivated and provided all required information to us within days.
We will hold your documents for up to six months. If you’re not in a hurry, that’s fine by us. At the end of six months, we will email you a link to print or save your documents for you to file at your own discretion. We will never pressure or harass you to provide information needed for your documents. Divorce is stressful enough.
Once your documents are filed, the time until your divorce is final is dependent upon whether or not the court is waiting for additional information from you (such a proof of a parenting class) and the court’s case load. This can be as little as 30 days, but 60-90 days is more typical even when all required documents are filed.
At Divorce Docs, we’re on your schedule. Whether you’re in a hurry, or you’d like to take it slow, you can count on us to be here for you.
